resources on:

abstract art & abstract artists

Abstract sculpture uses objects, environments and people not as subject matter to be represented but as a source of formal ideas. For sculptors who work in this way, the forms that are observed serve as a starting point for a kind of creative play, the end products of which may bear little or no resemblance to their original source. I invite you to be inspired by these resources below as part of your exploratory creative practice.

Australian Curriculum (ACARA, 2025) Achievement Standards for Year 10 state that:

"Students draw on inspiration from multiple sources to generate and develop ideas for artworks"

This section provides you with links to relevant artists and art information to help you deepen your knowledge, skillsets and success.

I highly encourage you to explore these online resources to complement what we are learning in our art classes and to help you with research for your homework tasks. I have also included some links to demonstration videos of how to build your technical art skills in drawing form so you can feel confident to express your ideas down on paper!
