TASK ONE:
ADVOCACY PRODUCT

This arts advocacy brochure is to be distributed during a Year 7 new parents Orientation week/Open Day events at the start of the school year to provide information on the subjects their children will be undertaking in the school curriculum. This brochure will accompany a display of student work from previous Year 7 students, and art teachers will be available to discuss any questions the parents may have to develop meaningful and mutual trust so that all can support the student’s future creative journey going forward.

Furthermore, I have included some videos which parents could watch on an ipad or projector screen that strongly advocate for visual arts in education, and address why it is important for child personal development and overall school success.

This event is also open for students to attend so the brochure aims to spark interest and motivation to engage with the visual arts from Year 7 onwards. Parents may be more likely to be influenced by their children’s perspective and therefore this brochure aims to be a vessel for valuing the importance of visual arts and creativity from the very start of their high school years; which we hope will grow into a passion for the future.Whilst Visual Arts is a core subject in Year 7-8 levels they must undertake (ACARA, n.d), want to impart its value early on so that they choose it as an elective going into Year 9-10, and hopefully continue this on to VCE levels.

The royalty-free stock images used have been sourced from https://www.freepik.com/ , however if this was made in a school setting; I would endeavour to use actual examples of student work and students if granted permission to.

*Sources used in the brochure are cited in the reference list for Assessment 1.
